Your first consultation will take up to an hour and half so that Jennie can make a full assessment of your health history and symptoms. As well as detailed questions about those more obvious symptoms of your “main complaint” among other things, you may also be asked about your medical history, your diet, digestive system, sleeping patterns and general sense of well-being.
Acupuncture is a holistic system of medicine whose strength lies in not just examining symptoms in isolation but in understanding their significance in the wider context of the person as a whole. Acupuncture aims not only to address symptoms but also to identify and acknowledge the cause. This may involve working with Jennie on areas of lifestyle advice and change.
Jennie will always explain what to expect during a treatment and ensure that you are comfortable, warm and covered throughout. It is often unnecessary to remove more than socks and shoes. However you may wish to wear loose and comfortable clothing that is easy to adjust. It is also a good idea to avoid eating a large meal just before a treatment.
